Global Warming/ Anti-Peabody Coal Co. Rally on Saturday, Nov. 17th at 1:00 PM in downtown St. Louis in front of the Peabody headquarters at 700 Market Street.
Inspired by stepitup and powershift, yes, and Al Gore, we are planning a rally against global warming in general and Peabody in particular in St. Louis. Please distribute the information far and wide and come! We are also working with the Sierra Student Coalition. If you have contact to schools, please let them know about this. It looks like there will be buses leaving from Chicago, Carbondale and Iowa.
Peabody Energy is the world’s largest coal company – and largest enabler of global warming
pollution. Peabody is proposing massive coal-fired power plants and liquid coal facilities
throughout the Midwest that will accelerate global warming. Just three of Peabody’s projects
would emit as much global warming pollution as seven NE states are proposing to eliminate
from all of their power plants.
At a time when the world is trying to reduce global warming pollutions, Peabody is forging
forward with the largest new sources of global warming emissions seen in this country for 20
years. If we are going to stop global warming, we have to stop BIG COAL.
