Bringin' Back the Best of the 70's: Lower Emissions, Funk, and Style!

The 1Sky Campaign is holding a national Day of Action to carry the momentum from this year's election into the Capitol and White House. On Tuesday, November 18th, volunteers will gather all over the country-with help from 1Sky, the Energy Action Coalition and 350.org--to welcome the President-elect and the new Congress by calling on them to make climate an immediate priority in 2009.

St. Louis Events on November 18th Include:

2:30pm
Gathering at our newly elected representatives' offices nationwide to "welcome" them to Congress with a strong demand: make action on climate change a top priority in Washington. As part of the welcome, you'll deliver a large greeting card representing the thousands of people in your state who voted on climate. Missouri residents resoundingly showed support for renewable energy by passing Proposition C--the Clean Energy Initiative--by a wide margin, and it's crucial our representatives understand that urgent action is needed.

Senator Claire McCaskill has the potential to become a real national leader on climate change, so we are asking Missouri Residents to join us at her office on 5850 A Delmar Blvd St. Louis, MO 63112. If you are unable to make it but would like to help out with the effort, contact Sonya Carlson 314-266-5109 or by email at sonya@1sky.org to help deliver the other cards to US Representatives Todd Akin, Russ Carnahan, Wm. Lacy Clay, and US Senator Kit Bond.

7:00pm
1Sky will be hosting a party at the Tin Can on 1909 Locust St. They're hoping to demonstrate the public demand for preventing climate change by uniting individuals, elected officials, and organizations around a shared vision for a better future: a re-powered economy with 5 million new Green Jobs, the dramatic growth of renewable energy, and steep cuts in carbon emissions.

Scientists say we need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to 1970's levels--so it's a 70's party! Wear your bell-bottom pants, afro wigs, Farrah Fawcett hair, and/or platform shoes. We'll be listening to community speakers, enjoying funk music, and writing letters to our new president to ask him to take a bold stance on climate change.

1Sky is a national highly collaborative campaign working to bring local groups together to galvanize a movement in support of the bold federal action on climate change that science and equity demand. For more information about the 1sky campaign, visit www.1sky.org
