Occupation 101 @ Schlafly Library Branch

Occupation 101

A thought-provoking and powerful documentary film on
the current and historical root causes of the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unlike any other film
ever produced on the conflict – 'Occupation 101'
presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and
hidden truths surrounding the never ending controversy
and dispels many of its long-perceived myths and
misconceptions. The film also details life under
Israeli military rule, the role of the United States
in the conflict, and the major obstacles that stand in
the way of a lasting and viable peace.

The roots of the conflict are explained through
first-hand on-the-ground experiences from leading
Middle East scholars, peace activists, journalists,
religious leaders and humanitarian workers whose
voices have too often been suppressed in American
media outlets.

The film covers a wide range of topics -- which
include -- the first wave of Jewish immigration from
Europe in the 1880's, the 1920 tensions, the 1948 war,
the 1967 war, the first Intifada of 1987, the Oslo
Peace Process, Settlement expansion, the role of the
United States Government, the second Intifada of 2000,
the separation barrier and the Israeli withdrawal from
Gaza, as well as many heart wrenching testimonials
from victims of this tragedy.

Occupation 101 - A One-Sided Piece of Propaganda Bullshit

Occupation 101 is, indeed, a thought-provoking film. One such thought
it provokes is: how is it that anyone could be so stupid as to buy the
propaganda claims made in this film? Another such thought is: why is a
so-called "independent" media organization disseminating the same
anti-Israel message that can just as easily be found in the rest of the
mainstream media? It is insulting to the intelligence of the St. Louis
community that you present them with such a one-sided and viciously
anti-Israeli film, and even worse that you would show such a
terror-apologizing film so soon after the terror attacks in Mumbai. You
ought to be ashamed of yourself.

This film does just about everything, ranging from making serious
errors of omission and logic to downright lying about and ignoring
history, in order to place the entire blame for the Palestinian-Israeli
conflict at the feet of Israel (and the United States, of course), and
to portray Palestinians as innocent victims and Israelis and so-called
"Zionists" (i.e. Jews) as brutal, inhuman aggressors. The film
apologizes for Palestinian terror attacks involving the murder of
Israeli civilians, and it largely ignores the Palestinian leadership's
role in the conflict.

For those who are really interested in learning about the
Arab-Israeli conflict, go to this viewing of "Occupation 101," but then
also watch "Relentless: The Struggle for Peace in the Middle East",
which may be viewed free of charge on Google Video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2533702461706761547).
This way, you will be exposed to both Palestinian and Israeli
viewpoints on the conflict. After watching these videos, I hope you
will understand that the Arab-Israeli conflict is as much a war of guns
as it is a war of words, that nearly all aspects of the conflct are
disputed, that there are many more shades of gray than there are of
black and white, and -- most importantly -- that any solution to the
Palestinian-Israeli conflict will have to be equitable both to Israelis
and to Palestinians, providing Palestinian autonomy while at the same
time ensuring Israeli security.

This video must be on point,

This video must be on point, telling and hot, otherwise this person wouldn't have posted such scarred bs propaganda.

I'm for letting an individual making up their own mind. Corporate right-wing media has been reporting with a bias long enough.

The truth is being silenced.

If you want to see how the truth concerning the Israel-Palestine conflict is being silenced, watch “The Easiest Targets”. In this excellent video Hedy Epstein, a St. Louis peace activist and a Jewish holocaust survivor, tells of her personal experiences of humiliation and harassment by Israeli border guards and airport security officials.
She and other Jews tell of their fight to get the truth out, and the efforts by officials to silence or even kill them.
