INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY BRINGS NATIONALLY KNOWN ACTIVIST TO TOWN
In celebration of International Women’s Day, forums and workshops will be held in the St Louis area between Wednesday, March 5th and Friday, March 7th to discuss the contribution of women to the global peace and justice movement. These events will feature nationally known activists and speaker Medea Benjamin.

EVENT SCHEDULE
Tuesday, March 4th
Jean Ponzi interviews Medea Benjamin on "Earthworms" radio show, KDHX 88.1 FM, 7 pm.
Wednesday, March 5th
"Women in Global Action!" - a forum with Medea Benjamin, Fatemah Keshavarz, Jamala Rogers and Barb Chicherio. Held at 7pm at Legacy Books and Café, 5249 Delmar Blvd, St Louis, MO 63108.
* Medea Benjamin is the Founding Director of the human rights group Global Exchange and co-founder of CODEPINK. She has struggled for social justice and human rights in Asia, the Americas, and Africa for over 25 years, traveling to Iraq, Afghanistan, Cuba, and most recently Pakistan.
* Fatemeh Keshavarz is an author and professor of Persian and Comparative Literature at Washington University.
* Jamala Rogers is a journalist, and local social justice activist with Organization for Black Struggle.
* Barb Chicherio is a local activist and member of the Gateway Greens, the Green Party of St Louis.
Thursday, March 6th
"Working for Peace as a Way of Life"- dialogue with Medea Benjamin. Held at 5 pm at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, MUC Maple/Dogwood Room.
Friday, March 7th
Activist Training Camp: Workshops on grassroots media, peace art and direct action.
Washington University Ridgley Hall Room 219.
9AM - Grassroots Media Workshop by Ben West and Shanna Carpenter
10AM - Peace Art Training by Laurie Meier
11AM - Action Workshop by Medea Benjamin
These events are a collaboration between CODEPINK St. Louis, the Gateway Greens, the Organization for Black Struggle, the United African People's Organization, the Instead of War Coalition, the St. Louis Indy Media Center, and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.
