Surprisingly enough, the self-proclaimed "largest rental car company in North America," St. Louis-based Enterprise Rent-A-Car, may be introducing our city to one such solution: carsharing. As San Francisco-based nonprofit City CarShare outlines, the model "converts automobile use from a product to a service" allowing members 24-hour on-call access to a bank of cars, from small to large, without the hassles of car ownership. Formalized carsharing is a popular and growing trend around the country, and elsewhere in the world.

On Saturday November 8th, the National Socialist Movement held an anti-immigrant rally and march in Jefferson City, MO. The gathering was part of a national effort by the NSM, with a similar event happening in Tyler, Texas.

Decked out in their Nazi best, swastikas and bomber jackets were the color of the day. Flanked by dozens of riot cops and local sheriffs, the Nazi group marched from the Governor’s Mansion to the steps of the Capitol Building. There they gave a few un-inspired speeches before driving away in there SUVs.

Saudi Arabia initiated inter-religious meeting at the United Nations this week. King Abdullah called his initiative a “Culture of Peace Summit,” to promote tolerance among the world’s major religions. Participants who gathered in New York on Wednesday and Thursday called for promoting mutual understanding and tolerance, through dialogue. Among those who attended are leaders from Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt, Britain, Spain and the Philippines, said Enrique Yeves, spokesman for U.N. As I sat in the Steinberg auditorium on Friday night waiting for the start of a panel discussion on the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, I wondered where the crowd might be.
