MO/MidwestThe real fight against fascism is in the prisons…On Saturday November 8th, the National Socialist Movement held an anti-immigrant rally and march in Jefferson City, MO. The gathering was part of a national effort by the NSM, with a similar event happening in Tyler, Texas. Decked out in their Nazi best, swastikas and bomber jackets were the color of the day. Flanked by dozens of riot cops and local sheriffs, the Nazi group marched from the Governor’s Mansion to the steps of the Capitol Building. There they gave a few un-inspired speeches before driving away in there SUVs. On Saturday November 8th, the National Socialist Movement held an anti-immigrant rally and march in Jefferson City, MO. Call to action: Disrupt Lake City!Disrupt Lake City is creating a situation in which our friends and allies can directly confront this wellspring of US militarism. Though we've long known that our oppressors have names and addresses, we're finally going to put Lake City on the map, and expose just what the "Heart of America," looks like. What is lake city… The US led war in Iraq has been raging for nearly six years, with wars of occupation proceeding for centuries before that. The current US anti-war movement has grinded to a near halt due to sectarianism, ineffective vigils and “speak truth to power” campaigns. The one thing that is clear to the rest of us is that those in power have a concrete understanding of their influential roles in the global military industrial complex. GM Deserves Bankruptcy, Contend Environmentalists"Unfortunately, future generations who will suffer the consequences of air pollution, resource scarcity, and global warming won’t have the luxury of a government rescue." FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE GENERAL MOTORS DESERVES BANKRUPTCY FOR POLLUTING THE PLANET, Detroit, MI— Along with environmentalists across the country, the North American Earth Liberation Front Press Office (NAELFPO) is denouncing the government’s consideration of a bailout package for the failing U.S. automaker, General Motors. Obama Wins. Where from Here? Peaceworks' PerspectiveHello friends, This week we depart from our usual Updates format. We will be sending an event update with Nook News in a day or two. We do want to remind you that our Annual Dinner is this Saturday, Nov. 15. Details are at http://www.midmopeaceworks.org/events.php#258 This post, however, offers our perspective on the current moment, examining the implications of Obama's election and what it bodes for those of us working for peace, sustainability and social justice. We hope you will take a few minutes to read it through and consider our our perspective. We, of course, invite and welcome your feedback. Note that we have not tried to be comprehensive in addressing the issues that will need to be addressed in the months ahead. Rather, we have attempted to put together a framework for understanding our current situation and used a few examples to illustrate our situation. Thanks for your interest and your work to move us forward in our shared efforts to promote a peaceful, just and sustainable future. Within hours of a banner being displayed on a busy pat of I-70, the city removed the banner, and the voice of the people with it. A banner reading: "FIGHT THE RICH, DON'T VOTE FOR THEM" was dropped today, November 4th, on an overpass in St. Charles, MO. The banner, which measured aproximately 6 ft. x 20 ft., was streched across on overpass just outside of the county's largest voting station. Within thirty yards of the banner, billboards for casinos and gated communities have flown high and intrusive over the much driven freeway, without any disturbance.
