Peace When There Is No Peace
A Forum Topix post also known as A Sh*thead War. (Jer. 6:14; 8:11) 5/10 "A Nation of Sh*theads"
Excerpts from Fools of Babylon 9/30/07; In Washington, D.C., Babylon on the Potomac was found "the blood of the saints and of all who have been slain on the earth." (Rev. 18) As you should know, the lawless Israelites did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and served the Baals; i.e. Bush's Asinine Anal Lovers (see Bush Daddy Religion), and they forsook their Lord.(Judges 2:11).. The Bush Nazis have been given power to rule until God's word are fulfilled (Rev. 17:17), that is until they are all killed..
Crashes vs. Congestion: What's the Cost to Society?
The American Automobile Association (AAA) has released a report that examines the costs of roadway crashes to society. According to AAA, the study is designed to raise awareness of the importance of transportation investments, and to provide policy makers, departments of transportation, and the public with information on the magnitude of the safety problem.
From the report summary:
In every city, the crash costs on a per person basis exceed the congestion costs. Overall, crash costs are nearly two and half times those of congestion. For very large urban areas (over 3 million), crash costs are nearly double those of congestion; for large urban areas (1 million to less than 3 million), crash costs are nearly two and a half times more than congestion; for medium-sized urban areas (500,000 to less than 1 million), crash costs are over four times more than congestion; and for small urban areas (less than 500,000), crashes are seven times more costly than congestion.
Figure ES.3 shows the cost of crashes and congestion per vehicle miles of travel.
Levi Leipheimer bicycle @ Bicycle Day at the Capitol
Missouri Bicyclists,
Some really great things are coming together for Bicycle Day at the Capitol next Tuesday.
The most exciting (for me anyway ;-) is that I just heard from Jeff Chattin, the Trek rep for Missouri, and Trek has sent the bike Levi Leipheimer rode in the Tour of Missouri for display at Bicycle Day.
James Allen of Springfield will be there with a couple of interesting antique bicycles and some other items to display.

The Bicycle Film Festival is making the call for submissions to the 2008 Festival. I hope you've had your helmet cameras running! The deadline is FEBRUARY 19th
The bicycle film festival is a celebration of bicycles through film, art and music.
We would like all sorts of bike film from 2 minutes to infinity, however short films under 10 minutes are easier to program for our popular shorts program. Of course all lengths are accepted and screened.

02/19/2008 - 12:00amSTL County council member opposes plan for Hanley Road
CLAYTON — St. Louis County Councilwoman Barbara Fraser on Tuesday opposed the design of an interchange at Hanley and Manchester roads that includes improvements to a stretch of Hanley to the north.
"I want to see Hanley Road designed in a way that not only improves traffic flow but also accommodates people who live, work and shop there," she told the council. "Hanley neighborhoods do not need an interstate-type overpass with little consideration for people."

01/30/2008 - 3:00pmKaty Trail Connection settlement approved
Missouri bicyclists, walkers, runners, and trail users,
The Taum Sauk Settlement was approved by the judge yesterday. It still includes the $18 million and the trail agreement for the use of the Rock Island RR corridor to connect the Katy Trail to Pleasant Hill, on the edge of the KC metro area.
Your emails, letters, and phone calls during the public comment period (over 1800 in a space of 10 days) certainly played a part in ensuring that the Katy Trail portion remained part of the agreement.
The next hurdles:
* The $18 million will be part of DNR's budget, which will need to be approved by the Missouri legislature.
We are already moving to let legislators know of the tremendous public supoprt for the Katy Trail connection.
* Can DNR complete the Katy Connection within the 3 year time frame and $18 million budget that they have set for themselves?

Tired of long waits in the cold and rain, many St. Louisans are demanding an
affordable mass transit system. Could we link that with redesigning
neighborhoods so people could ride bicycles or walk for most trips? Is it feasible to
reduce the number of cars on the road by 80%?
