May Day Strike Against the War Shuts Down All U.S. West Coast Ports
Historic ILWU Dock Workers’ Action Points the Way
May Day Strike Against the War Shuts Down All U.S. West Coast Ports
On May 1, every port on the West Coast of the United States was shut down to demand an end to the U.S. war and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. The historic May Day walkout by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) is the first time ever that an American union has struck against a U.S. war. The union ranks defied the rulings of an arbitrator, who twice ordered them to go to work. They overcame the capitulations of the ILWU leadership, which didn’t want the work stoppage in the first place, tried to water it down and cowered before the threats of legal action while waving the flag. The employers’ Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) declared the May 1 port shutdown an “illegal strike.” But after all the huffing and puffing from the bosses’ mouthpieces, the dock workers pointed the way to defeating the imperialist war by mobilizing working-class power. In the end, it was more than a work stoppage. The dock workers’ May Day strike against the war was a first step, a show of what it will take to bring down the warmongers in Washington. Their “symbolic” action was felt all the way to Iraq, where dock workers in two ports stopped work in solidarity with the ILWU. But it was only a beginning. What is needed is not only industrial action but a political offensive against the Democrats and Republicans, the partner parties of American imperialism, to build a class-struggle workers party. 5th Anniversary of "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq
Happy 5th Anniversary, America!
May 1, 2008 was the 5th anniversary of the day President George Walker Bush, televised from a U.S. Battleship, told the American people that we have completed our mission in Iraq.
Five years later there is one thing we do know for sure. We are still stuck in Iraq and will be for an undetermined length of time. Since that time another almost 2,000 Americans and Iraqis have died in Iraq. Many deaths were the "innocents" whose only fault was in living too close among the terrorist fighting population.
MAYDAY ALERT! -- Terror Drills Could Go Live!
An impressive array of military men join Captain Eric H. May, the Internet intelligence writer, in issuing a false flag alert for May 1-8, when the Bush administration will be conducting nationwide terror exercises.

The name "false flag" comes from the old pirate's ruse of flying another country's flag during an attack, thereby shifting blame for the attack to a party that had nothing to do with it. Governments use false flag attacks to push their nations into dictatorship or war. As military experts, we fear that national terror drills, scheduled for May 1-8, could be used to camouflage a false flag attack in the United States.
Strategic Signals
All Out on May Day!
On May 1, all 29 ports on the U.S. West Coast are to be shut down by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) in protest against the U.S. war on Afghanistan and Iraq. This is a historic event of international significance: labor action against imperialist war by a major American union. The strategically placed port workers in the ILWU can bring commerce with Asia to a grinding halt, and they’re about to demonstrate it. The maritime employers are already screaming, and you can bet it’s got the attention of the warmongers in Washington. All labor should take up the challenge this poses: For workers strikes against the war! Meanwhile, immigrants’ rights groups are once again mobilizing on May Day. And on April 30 and May 1, the independent truckers who move cargo to and from the docks may play an important role in a shutdown. The imperialist war on Afghanistan and Iraq is also a war on immigrants, minorities, working people and democratic rights “at home.” We need to defeat this attack here and abroad, in opposition to both the capitalist war parties. The “antiwar movement,” whose aim has always been to pressure the Democrats, is at a dead end. What’s needed is working-class action independent of the bosses. What that takes is a fundamental break from the Democratic Party and the pro-capitalist politics that infuse the labor bureaucracy.

Wesley Snipes jailed for 3 years in tax case

ReutersWHEN THE US CONGRESS DENIED THE MASSES OF AMERICANS THEIR POSSIBLE FREEDOMS !
Currently there are reported to be 100,000 falsely imprisoned Americans living along with the estimated 2,000,000 US prison population nationwide.America now has the very unique distinction of not only being rated the #1 in the World for having the largest prison population, but America also has the distinct rating of having the largest wrongfully imprisoned prison population in the World as well. Our US Congress affords themselves all the perks and salary most Americans could only dream about, but ask anyone of these Leaders Of The Free World to protect our Middle Class or Working Poor Americans from continuing to be falsely imprisoned endless decades due to the lack of federal appeal legal counsel being afforded them, and you just might be thought of as being crazy?
The masses of the American people could never come close to ever being able to burden these federal appeal legal costs for themselves or for a family member, and should not need a lobbying group for this basic right of legal protection to be afforded them!
Four Activists Shut Down Bank of America for Fossil Fools Day Action
[See other Fossil Fools Day actions nation-wide at US Indymedia: indymedia.us/en/2008/04/30851.shtml]
On Tuesday April 1, at about 8:40am, four activists took direct action against the Bank of America in Copley Square, Boston, by locking themselves to the front door to protest the banks funding of coal power in the US. The action was done with support from Rising Tide North America, the Rainforest Action Network, and the Energy Action Coalition.
The four activists: Elise Ansel, Adrienne Naylor, Laila Murad, and Candace Bollinger used large, cylindrical tubes to lock their arms together, as Bollinger was locked directly to the door-handle of the bank with a bicycle u-lock around her neck. Protesters on both sides of the street held up banners, chanted, sang songs, and yelled encouragement for their four comrades, while bearing the strong wind that ripped through the streets.
